Hitters can't support pitching trio as Columbus loses to Buffalo: Minor League Report

House sharp in Akron win, Carolina win fueled by Tice, Wolters, Lake County loses slugfest, Crushers fall in Joliet.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Bisons 3, Clippers 1: LHP Eric Berger (5.84 ERA), RHP Dan Wheeler (3.86) and RHP Chris Ray (0-4, 2.53) combined on a four-hitter, but Columbus lost an International League contest Tuesday in Buffalo, N.Y. Berger allowed one run, three hits and three walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out six. CF Ezequiel Carrera (.249) and 2B Jason Donald (.304) each had two hits for the Clippers. Donald also had an RBI.

AA Akron Aeros

Aeros 3, Baysox 0: LHP T.J. House (4-1, 2.80) hurled 5.1 scoreless innings, and three relievers combined for 3.1 hitless innings as host Akron topped Bowie (Md.) in Eastern League play. House gave up four hits and four walks. He struck out one. RHP Jose De La Torre (1.2 innings, 3.05), RHP Bryce Stowell (one inning, 0.90) and RHP Preston Guilmet (one inning, sixth save, 3.18) finished off the four-hitter for the Aeros. SS Ryan Rohlinger (.227) drove in two runs for Akron.

Advanced A Carolina Mudcats

Mudcats 11, Blue Rocks 3: LF Jeremie Tice (.313) and Mudcats SS Tony Wolters (.233) each collected three hits and three runs batted in, and 1B Jesus Aguilar (.308) added three hits and two RBI as host Carolina crushed Wilmington (Del.) in Carolina League play. Starting RHP Danny Salazar (3.45) hurled three shutout innings.

A Lake County Captains

Lugnuts 10, Captains 9: 1B Leonard Castillo (.183) had three hits and three RBI, and RF Jordan Smith (.265) homered, but Lake County lost a Midwest League contest in Lansing, Mich.

Independent Lake Erie Crushers

Slammers 3, Crushers 2: LHP Paul Fagan (1.50) did not allow an earned run in six innings, but host Lake Erie lost to Joliet (Ill.) in Frontier League play. 3B Andrew Davis (.293) and 2B Gered Mochizuki (.071) each drove in a run.
