The Akron Aeros, Lake County Captains and Mahoning Valley Scrappers get victories on Saturday.
AAA Columbus Clippers
Mud Hens 8, Clippers 1 RHP Corey Kluber (7-7, 3.84 ERA) allowed six runs in 7 innings as host Columbus lost an International League game against Toledo on Saturday. Casey Crosby (5-2, 3.52) and Jose Ortega combined on a two-hitter for the Mud Hens. CF Trevor Crowe (.274) doubled and C Matt Pagnozzi (.212) singled for the Clippers.
AA Akron Aeros
Aeros 6, Flying Squirrels 4 SS Juan Diaz (.243) doubled in 2B Matt Lawson (.239) with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, and 1B Chun Chen (.323) plated Diaz for an insurance run as host Akron won an Eastern League game against Richmond (Va.).
Advanced A Carolina Mudcats
Pelicans 5, Mudcats 4 (11) SS Tony Wolters (.234) drove in two runs, and RF Anthony Gallas (.265) had two doubles for Carolina, but the Mudcats lost a Carolina League contest in 11 innings in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
A Lake County Captains
Captains 7, Whitecaps 4 C Alex Monsalve (.258) hit his sixth homer of the season, singled and drove in three runs, and 2B Jose Ramirez (.324) went 5-for-5 with a double and scored two runs as host Lake County topped West Michigan in Midwest League play. RF Jordan Smith (.298), 1B Jerrud Sabourin (.289) and LF Jordan Casas (.255) also had two hits each for the Captains. SS Francisco Lindor (.270) went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
A Mahoning Valley Scrappers
Scrappers 3, Spikes 1 C Charlie Valerio (.283) hit a two-run homer, and 20-year-old right-hander Luis DeJesus (1-0, 0.53) did not allow an earned run in six innings as host Mahoning Valley topped State College (Pa.) in New York-Penn League play. DeJesus gave up an unearned run, four hits and one walk. He struck out three.
