Kyrie Irving's 21 points led the Cavs, who also got 20 points from Anderson Varejao and six points and 10 assists from Ramon Sessions.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cavaliers played one really good quarter Tuesday night against Boston. But the three indifferent periods that preceded it were too much to overcome.
Trailing by 18 entering the fourth quarter, 76-58, the Cavaliers displayed the hustle and intensity that was lacking for the first 36 minutes, but fell just short in a 93-90 loss to the Celtics at The Q. The two teams each claimed road wins in the rare back-to-back two-game series that began with the Cavaliers win in Boston on Sunday night.
Kyrie Irving's driving lay-in with 1:18 remaining drew the Cavaliers within two points at 89-87, highlighting a frantic comeback bid after numerous turnovers had helped Boston build a double-digit lead through most of the game. But Kevin Garnett's jumper restored a four-point advantage and Paul Pierce's two free throws in the final seconds put the game away.
The Cavaliers outscored Boston, 32-17, in the final quarter.
Irving's 21 points led the Cavs, who also got 20 points from Anderson Varejao and six points and 10 assists from Ramon Sessions.
Pierce's 20 points led five Celtics in double figures, with Garnett and Brandon Bass each adding 13.
