Etz Chaim Jewish Primary governors' chair Adam Dawson has insisted that the school remains on course to move to a permanent Mill Hill site in a year, despite the threat of a new legal challenge.
With all planning conditions set to be met by the end of the month, Barnet Council is expected to give the green light for work to start on the former garden centre site in Daws Lane.
However, at a public meeting attended by 180 people, opponents voted to launch a second judicial review of the council's planning consent.
They claim that in not prioritising the needs of the elderly and disabled, Barnet planners had merely "paid lip service" to the requirements of the Equalities Act. They want to see the site revert to use as a community centre.
The council has responded that "a clear and demonstrable equalities assessment" had been made during its reconsideration of the Etz Chaim plans.
Etz Chaim has received 112 applications for the 26 places in the nursery class for September.
