AA Akron Aeros
Aeros 3, Fisher Cats 0: Akron scored single runs in the third, fourth and eighth, and defeated New Hampshire in an Eastern League game at Canal Park. Right-hander Joe Gardner (3-4) tossed eight scoreless innings and Cory Burns collected his 17th save. Matt McBride hit a solo home run in the fourth to give the Aeros a 2-0 lead.
Advanced A Kinston Indians
Indians 6, Red Sox 1: Adam Abraham slugged his ninth and 10th homers of the season, the second one slamming off a warehouse over the left field wall, as Kinston, N.C., won a Carolina League game over Salem, Va.
Notes: Kinston (35-30) is now 11/2 games behind first-place Myrtle Beach, S.C., with four games remaining in the first-half of the season.
A Lake County Captains
Loons 9, Captains 8: Lake County rallied to score a run in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough as the Captains lost a Midwest League game at Classic Park in Eastlake. Jesus Aguilar, Ronny Rodriguz, LeVon Washington and Alexander Lavisky all homered for Lake County. It was Aguilar's 10th of the year. Luis Encarnacian (1-2) gave up two runs, both earned, in one inning of middle relief and was the losing pitcher.
Independent Lake Erie Crushers
Beach Bums 9, Crushers 7: Traverse City outslugged Lake Erie in a Frontier League game in Avon, to sweep a three-game series. Lake Erie reliever Paul Daniels (0-1) allowed to go-ahead run in the seventh inning.
AAA Columbus Clippers
Clippers were idle Wednesday
Notes: Luis Valbuena and Jerad Head are both hitting .312, tied for ninth in the International League, heading into Thursday. Valbuena has seven homers and 41 RBI, and Head eight homers and 29 RBI. Jeanmar Gomez has an ERA of 2.28, good for fourth in the league. He is 6-1 in nine starts, with 48 strikeouts and 21 walks in 591/3 innings.
