European Summary: Cold in the south - Wet & windy north, Jan 06 - 06:04

Wet and windy through northern Europe, cold and mixed in the south Friday Another windy day across Europe and windy too in the Mediterranean with cyclonic gales. Cold and wintry across the east with heavy snow for Finland, Russia, The Baltic States, Belarus, Poland across into Hungry, Austria and the south of Germany and the Alps. Lots of dry weather to come across England, France and into Spain and Portugal. Dry across northern Italy but rain and snow showers will affect the south. Frequent and heavy rain showers will affect Greece today and these extend south into the Mediterranean while snow is forecast for Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia and Croatia. Mainly dry across Romania and much of the Ukraine. Very cold but dry and sunny across Norway and Sweden. Dry as well across Denmark, Belgium, the Netherlands and northern Germany.

Saturday A fair day to come for Portugal and Spain on Saturday with some good spells of sunshine here. There will be some sunshine through central and eastern parts of the Mediterranean to, although it is going to be cold here. For central Europe some cloud and outbreaks of rain affect southern France, Switzerland, Hungary and Austria as well as into Hungary. More northern parts of France and the Low Countries are dry with sunny spells. Heavier showers and stronger winds blow into Germany and Poland. To the north there will be some cloud and sleet or rain over southern Norway and Denmark. This spreading into the Baltic States. Brighter weather affects northern Sweden and Norway as well as Finland where it is going to be colder than recently.
