New Clipper Tim Fedroff's three hits include a homer in win over Toledo: Minor-league report

McFarland's pitching keys Aeros' win; whiffs bedevil Kinston in loss; Lake County battered by Fort Wayne, error-prone Scrappers lose to State College; Davis' two-run homer fuels Crushers.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers 12, Mud Hens 4: Tim Fedroff (.333) had three hits, including his first home run, and three RBI, and lefty David Huff (8-2, 3.74) threw six sharp innings to lead host Columbus over Toledo in International League play Wednesday.

CF Ezequiel Carrera (.292) and 2B Jason Kipnis (.302) each had three hits for Columbus.

Huff allowed one run (earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out seven.

AA Akron Aeros

Aeros 4, Baysox 1: Lefty TJ McFarland (4-4, 4.55) threw six innings of one-hit ball to lead Akron to the Eastern League win over Bowie (Md.) at Canal Park.

McFarland allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out five.

SS Juan Diaz (.260) and DH Beau Mills (.292) each drove in two runs.

Advanced A Kinston Indians

Pelicans 4, Indians 3: Kinston batters struck out 14 times and Kinston pitchers allowed 14 hits in the 10-inning Carolina League loss in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Marty Popham (3.12) started for the K-Tribe and pitched four innings. The right-hander allowed three earned runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four.

1B Chase Burnette (.234) had two hits an RBI for Kinston.

A Lake County Captains

TinCaps 11, Captains 4: Right-handed starter Jordan Cooper (2-3, 5.61) got shelled and Fort Wayne rolled in the Midwest League game in Eastlake.

Cooper pitched 31/3 innings, allowing eight runs (all earned) on 11 hits. He walked one and struck out four.

CF Jordan Casas (.373) led the Captains with three hits.

A Mahoning Valley Scrappers

Spikes 5, Scrappers 2: Four Mahoning Valley errors led to five unearned runs, and the Scrappers lost the New York-Penn League game in State College, Pa.

RF Bryson Myles (.333) had three hits for the Scrappers, including two doubles.

Lefty Kirk Wetmore (2-1, 0.00) started and allowed three unearned runs on four hits and one walk. He struck out six.

Independent Lake Erie Crushers

Crushers 2, Grizzlies 1: Andrew Davis hit a two-run homer and lefty Paul Fagan (3-4) allowed one hit over seven innings as Lake Erie won the Frontier League game in Avon.
