Watford Friendly League Under 9 Green Division
Whetstone Wanderers Lions 0 Pinner JFC 2
The Sky Blues kick-started their league campaign with a tough away game against stern opposition in Whetstone Wanderers Lions.
It was important to get off to a flying start and Pinner piled on the pressure in the first half forcing the Whetstone keeper to pull off some fine saves with the visitors going close with some long-range shots just flying over the bar.
It took until five minutes before the break for the Sky Blues to take the lead with a fine combination between Jake Greenfield and Ben ?The Bullet? Green? for Adam Cohen to slot home from close range.
The second half brought much of the same with Pinner going close on a number of occasions, but a good performance from the home side?s keeper kept the score respectable until 15 minutes before time where with a mazy run from Green, a resulting pile-driver left the keeper stranded.
Man-of-the-match was given deservedly to Noah Abrahams, the team's holding midfield player.
A fine start to the season leaves the Sky Blues in second place on goal difference and looking forward to the campaign ahead.
