Akron, Kinston and Lake County all stumble in minor-league action.
AAA Columbus Clippers
Clippers 11, Bulls 8: A seven-run fourth inning, including a two-run homer by Chad Huffman, carried the Clippers to a win over Durham, N.C., in Columbus. Huffman hit in all three of his appearances at the plate and knocked in five runs. The Clippers were 5-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
Notes: So far this season, Columbus has scored at least four runs in 31 of 43 games.
AA Akron Aeros
Curve 2, Aeros 0: RHP Aaron Pribanic (4-1, 2.11) blanked Akron in seven innings to give Altoona (Pa.) a win at home. He allowed six Aero hits and had one strikeout. T.J. McFarland gave up both Curve runs, an Eric Fryer RBI single in the second and a Starling Marte homer in the third. McFarland allowed six hits in six innings.
Advanced A Kinston Indians
Keys 3, Indians 1: Casey Frawley homered in the first inning for Kinston before the Keys' Robert Bundy shut the door by allowing only three hits and throwing eight strikeouts in eight innings of work. Kinston's Brett Branch also had a strong outing, allowing only one hit in seven innings. Reliever Tyler Studevant, however, gave up all three runs, including a ninth inning two-run homer by Frederick's (Md.) Tyler Kolodny.
A Lake County Captains
Dragons 4, Captains 2: Dominic D'Anna hit a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th to lead host Dayton over Lake County. The Captains are 0-4 in extra innings. The Captains took the lead in the eighth when Nick Bartolone hit an RBI triple and Carlos Moncrief lifted a sacrifice fly. The Dragons tied it up in the bottom of the inning when Devin Lohman singled home Billy Hamilton.
Notes: The Captains and Dragons play game three of their four-game series Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Captains sending LHP Mike Rayl (4-0 2.29) to the hill to oppose RHP Chad Rogers (0-1, 2.77).
