Columbus Clippers pound Lehigh Valley pitchers for Class AAA victory: Minor League Report

Lonnie Chisenhall, Cord Phelps, Ezequiel Carrera and Chad Huffman all have three hits for the Clippers.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers 10, IronPigs 7 Host Columbus pounded out 17 hits in the International League victory Friday over Lehigh Valley, Pa. Lonnie Chisenhall, Cord Phelps, Ezequiel Carrera and Chad Huffman all had three hits for the Clippers. Joe Martinez (2-0) earned the victory, and Josh Judy picked up his fifth save.

AA Akron Aeros

Thunder 7, Aeros 4 Cory Burns (0-2, 5.40 ERA) gave up three earned runs in the ninth inning as Akron lost to visiting Trenton in Eastern League play. Aeros first baseman Matt McBride had two hits, including his fourth homer of the season.

Notes: Indians right-hander Carlos Carrasco began a major-league rehab assignment Friday night with the Aeros. Carrasco is 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA in five starts with the Indians this season. At the major-league level before 2011, he was 2-6 with 5.51 ERA in 12 starts, all coming with the Tribe.

Advanced A Kinston Indians

Indians rained out The Carolina League game between host Kinston and Potomac was postponed in North Carolina because of rain. The two teams will play a doubleheader (two seven-inning games) starting at 4:30 p.m. today.

Notes: Kinston will wear special jerseys promoting prostate cancer awareness in game two of the doubleheader.

A Lake County Captains

Hot Rods 6, Captains 3 Kent State product Anthony Gallas (.319) had two doubles and Carlos Montrief (.257) contributed two hits in Lake County's loss to Bowling Green, Ky., in Midwest League play in Eastlake. Cole Cook (1-3) suffered the loss despite going a career-high 6 1/3 innings. He allowed six runs, five earned, walking one and striking out one.

Notes: LeVon Washington, a second-round pick of the Indians in 2010, joined the Captains from extended spring training following the promotion of outfielder Jason Smit to Kinston.
