A Lake County Captains
Captains 9, Cougars 4: St. Ed grad Alex Lavisky (.210) blasted two home runs and drove in five runs to lead Lake County to the Midwest League win over Kane County (Ill.) in Eastlake.
The right-handed hitting catcher hit a three-run shot in the sixth, which gave the Captains a 6-3 lead, and a two-run homer in the eighth. Lavisky has six homers on the season.
Righty Cole Cook (2-5, 4.76) started and pitched six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks. He struck out four.
AAA Columbus Clippers
Bulls 4, Clippers 1: RH Zach McAllister (7-1, 2.42) went the distance for Columbus in the Clippers' International League loss Tuesday in Durham, N.C.
McAllister allowed three earned runs on six hits and three walks in eight innings. He struck out three and gave up two home runs.
Columbus managed just two hits -- SS Luis Valbuena (.293) singled and had an RBI and C Paul Phillips (.263) hit a double.
AA Akron Aeros
Phillies 4, Aeros 2: Akron 1B Beau Mills (.240) hit his first home run of the season and CF Jordan Henry (.275) had three hits but Akron dropped the Eastern League game in Reading, Pa.
T.J. McFarland started for Akron and pitched six innings. The left-hander allowed three runs (all earned) on eight hits. He walked none and struck out three.
Advanced A Kinston Indians
Indians 1, Blue Rocks 0: Three pitchers combined on a three-hit shutout as the K-Tribe beat Wilmington (Del.) in a Carolina League game in Kinston, N.C.
Lefty Giovanni Soto (2.44) pitched six innings, allowing two hits and two walks while fanning 10.
Righty Jose Flores (2-2, 5.70) earned the win and righty Preston Guilmet (0.90) earned his 12th save.
Kinston had just two hits, including a two-out RBI double in the seventh inning off the bat of DH Abner Abraham (.241).
