Jeanmar Gomez picks up eighth win as Clippers edge Toledo: Minor-league report

Bellows, Weglarz fuels Aeros' winning rally; Strongsville's Gallas a hero for Kinston; Aguilar's 14th homer leads Captains' romp; St. Edward's Lavisky has three hits in Mahoning Valley win.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers 5, Mud Hens 4: Four Columbus pitchers combined to strike out 14 Toledo batters as the Clippers won an International League game at home. Jeanmar Gomez (8-2, 2.49) struck out eight for the victory, while Josh Judy (3.30) pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 12th save.

AA Akron Aeros

Aeros 4, Baysox 2: Kyle Bellows and Nick Weglarz drove in runs in the eighth inning as Akron defeated Bowie in an Eastern League game at Canal Park. Tyler Sturdevant (1-0, 0.00) was the winner and Cory Burns (2.51) earned his 20th save.

Advanced A Kinston Indians

Indians 4, Nationals 3 (12): LF Anthony Gallas (.213) of Strongsville singled in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning as Kinston defeated Potomac in a Carolina League game in Kinston, N.C. Jose Flores (3-3, 5.79) threw one scoreless inning for the victory.

A Lake County Captains

Captains 13, TinCaps 3: 1B Jesus Aguilar hit his 14th home run and CF LeVon Washington, RF Carlos Moncrief, C Alex Monsalve and DH Brian Heere each had two RBI as Lake County defeated Fort Wayne, Ind., in a Midwest League game at Classic Park in Eastlake.

A Mahoning Valley Scrappers

Scrappers 6, Spikes 4: Mahoning Valley defeated State College, Pa., in Niles as C Jake Lowery (.313) and DH Alex Lavisky (.209) drove in runs in the seventh inning in the New York-Penn League game. Cody Allen (2-0, 1.86) got the victory in relief, and Enosil Tejeda (3.12) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his first save. Lavisky, a St. Edward graduate, had three hits and two RBI.

Independent Lake Erie Crushers

The Crushers were off on Tuesday.
