Chen's homer not enough in Akron's loss to Bowie: Minor-league report

Toole's three RBI powers Carolina win, Captains shut out Dayton.

AA Akron Aeros

Baysox 7, Aeros 5: DH Chun-Hsiu Chen (.301) hit a two-run homer, and SS Juan Diaz (.228) also homered, but Akron lost an Eastern League contest at Bowie (Md.). Aeros CF Tim Fedroff (.296) and 2B Davis Stoneburner (.122) drove in one run each. Akron LHP Eric Berger (4.37) allowed one earned run in five innings. RHP Bryan Price (1-1, 3.18) took the loss in relief.

Advanced A Carolina Mudcats

Mudcats 10, Keys 4: 2B Justin Toole (.211) drove in three runs, and SS Ronny Rodriguez (.225) went 4-for-4 with two RBI as Carolina won a Carolina League game in Frederick, Md. RHP Will Roberts (1-0, 3.00) allowed two runs in six innings during his first start since being called up from Lake County. Carolina LF Delvi Cid (.264) also drove in two runs.

A Lake County Captains

Captains 5, Dragons 0: RHP Joe Colon (2-3, 3.90) allowed three hits in seven innings, RHP Francisco Valera (3.06) gave up one hit in two innings and SS Francisco Lindor (.316) hit a two-run homer as Lake County swept a three-game Midwest League series against host Dayton. 3B Leonardo Castillo (.172) also homered for the Captains.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers vs. Braves, ppd.: Columbus' International League home game against Gwinnett (Ga.) on Friday was postponed due to rain.
