Week ahead: Unsettled - Rain and Showers, May 06 - 09:18

Gradually Improving in the South In general the upcoming week is expected to be unsettled with weather fronts and low pressure areas bringing further spells of rain followed by showers. Later in the week it does look more settled across the southern half of the country. For the most part, temperatures will be near or slightly below normal, although it may become warmer by the end of the week. For the weather for the next few days click here Wednesday 09/05/12 A breezy and unsettled day to come across the country with outbreaks of persistent rain across England and Wales. Scotland will have a day of sunshine and heavy showers. The rain continues across much of England and Wales into the evening and night. Expect highs of 10 to 14C.

Thursday 10/05/12 More rain is expected to sweep up across the southern half of England and Wales today and will be heavy. Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland will have a day of sunny spells and scattered showers. Most places will become dry by tonight, though the rain may linger along the south coast with a frost across the north. Highs of 9 to 13C.

Friday 11/05/12 Any residual rain along the southern coast soon clears and for much of England and Wales it will be a dry day with sunny spells and cloud. Fine across Northern Ireland with sunny skies while further showers develop across Scotland. Again, there is a risk of frost tonight just about anywhere. Expect highs of 10 to 14C.

Saturday 12/05/12 Today outbreaks of rain are forecast for northern parts of Scotland with a few scattered showers across northern England and Northern Ireland. The rest of the country looks fair and dry with some sunshine. Rain will affect the northern part of Britain tonight. Maximum temperatures of 10 to 14C.

Sunday 13/05/12 For Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. Expect a fair amount of cloud with some showery bits of rain. For Wales and the southern half of England, it looks to remain fair and dry with the best of the sunshine. Top temperatures of 10 to 14C. Monday 14/05/12 Confidence is low in the forecast at this point, but models suggest that rain across western and northern areas during the day spreads eastward into all areas during the course of the evening and night. Expect highs of 12 to 19C.
