Akron's Juan Diaz hits grand slam in Aeros' victory: Minor League Report

Also, Jeanmar Gomez pitches seven shutout innings in the Columbus Clippers' 1-0 win over Norfolk, and Jose Ramirez has three hits in a victory for the Lake County Captains.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers 1, Tides 0 Righty Jeanmar Gomez (5-2, 3.02) struck out eight in seven shutout innings and 3B Jason Donald (.280) hit his sixth homer of the year to lead Columbus to the International League win Friday in Norfolk, Va.

Gomez allowed three hits and walked none. Righty Dan Wheeler (2.40) struck out two in the eighth and righty Frank Herrmann (4.37) pitched the ninth for his sixth save.

Clippers CF Tim Fedroff (.373) went 1-for-4 and LF Matt LaPorta (.277) was 0-for-3 with a walk.

AA Akron Aeros

Aeros 7, Fisher Cats 4 Akron SS Juan Diaz (.264) hit a grand slam -- his 11th homer of the season -- in the first inning to lead the Aeros to the Eastern League win in Manchester, N.H.

Akron DH Thomas Neal (.324) had three hits.

Righty Kyle Landis (6-4, 3.78) pitched 11/3 scoreless innings in earning the win.

Advanced A Carolina Mudcats

Hillcats 7, Mudcats 2 Carolina right-handed starter Will Roberts (4-7, 5.99) gave up four runs in six innings of the Mudcats' Carolina League loss in Zebulon, N.C.

Roberts struck out six, allowed six hits and no walks.

A Lake County Captains

Captains 5, Whitecaps 3 Lake County 2B Jose Ramirez (.344) had three hits and C Jake Lowery (.220) hit his third homer of the season to help the Captains win the Midwest League game in Comstock Park, Mich.

Lake County left-handed starter Shawn Morimando (5-3, 3.52) allowed three runs on six hits in six innings. He walked none and struck out three.

A Mahoning Valley Scrappers

Scrappers 2, Lake Monsters 0 Righty Luis DeJesus threw seven shutout innings to raise his record to 4-0 and lower his ERA to 1.41, and Mahoning Valley won the New York-Penn League game in Burlington, Vt.

SS Jairo Kelly (.223) had two hits for the Scrappers.
