Week ahead: Very showery - Summer on hold, Jun 17 - 07:58

A chilly week ahead The weather remains very unsettled across the United Kingdom for the upcoming week as low pressure dominates and produces plenty of heavy showers for most areas. With less than normal sunshine, temperatures will be below normal for June with no sign of any real summery weather to come. For the weather for the next few days click here Monday 20/06/11 Rain is expected across southern England this morning. This turns showery for the afternoon with much of the country having some bright spells and showers for the afternoon. These will be locally heavy. Expect highs of 14 to 19C.

Tuesday 21/06/11 An unsettled and windy day with plenty of showers, many heavy with longer spells of rain across Scotland but few expected in the south east and the south west of England. Highs of 14 to 18C.

Wednesday 22/06/11 Another day of sunshine and showers across the United Kingdom though heavier rain will affect northern Scotland through the day. The showers will be heavy at times but again the south east and the south west of England may escape most of the showers. Highs of 12 to 18C.

Friday 24/06/11 More showers will affect much of the United Kingdom today but these not quite as heavy or as widespread. In the west these tend to die out with good spells of sunshine coming through later in the afternoon. Highs of 12 to 18C. Saturday 25/06/11 For most areas it's a more settled and dry day with sunny spells but later outbreaks of rain spill in across Northern Ireland into Wales and the north west of England and Scotland. Expect highs of 14 to 20C.
