Rene Rivera slugged a grand slam in the fourth inning, leading Rochester to the International League win Monday in Columbus. 3B Gregorio Petit had an RBI double for the Clippers. Starter TJ McFarland (4-5, 5.58 ERA) took the loss, giving up 12 hits and six earned runs in five innings. CF Ezquiel Carrera (.297) continued his 20-game hitting streak.

Starter Daniel Jimenez (1-1, 3.38) went five innings for the win and did not give up a hit. Louis Head (2.77) pitched two innings of scoreless relief.

Rainy Lara went seven innings and struck out 10 as visiting Brooklyn won the New York-Penn League game. The Scrappers’ lone run came when Indians’ first-round pick Tyler Naquin doubled and Charlie Valerio singled him home.

Andrew Davis delivered a walk-off single with the bases loaded to score J.C. Figueroa as Lake Erie won the Frontier League contest against Washington (Pa.) in Avon. The Crushers also executed a triple play.
