AAA Columbus Clippers Clippers 14, IronPigs 9 C Matt Pagnozzi (.220) homered twice, singled and drove in five runs, and RF Vinny Rottino (.313) doubled twice, singled and also had five RBI as Columbus outslugged host Lehigh Valley (Pa.) in International League play Monday. Clippers RHP Jeanmar Gomez (3-2, 3.15 ERA) got the victory despite giving up eight runs — six earned — in 51⁄3 innings. AA Akron Aeros Aeros 11, SeaWolves 1 LF Thomas Neal (.306) hit a grand slam, 1B Adam Abraham (.252) and 3B Ryan Rohlinger (.228) also went deep, and RHP Steven Wright (8-6, 2.54) allowed one run in six innings as host Akron topped Erie (Pa.) in Eastern League play. Advanced A Carolina Mudcats Dash 12, Mudcats 3 CF Carlos Moncrief (.256) homered, but Carolina lost the Carolina League game in Winston-Salem, N.C. A Lake County Captains Kernels 2, Captains 1 LHP Shawn Morimando (4-3, 3.51) held host Cedar Rapids (Iowa) to one hit in six innings, and Lake County 2B Jose Ramirez (.310) had three hits, but the Captains lost a Midwest League contest, despite out-hitting the Kernels, 10-2. Morimando struck out four but walked five and allowed two runs. RHP Antwonie Hubbard (zero hits in one inning, 2.35) and RHP Enosil Tejeda (one hit in two innings, 4.50) finished off Lake County’s two-hitter. A Mahoning Valley Scrappers Scrappers 3, Crosscutters 1 1B Charlie Valerio (.284) hit a two-run homer, and Mahoning Valley won the New York-Penn League game in Williamsport, Pa.
