European Summary: Windy, wet west - Better east, Apr 25 - 06:04

Windy and wet through the west, but better in the east Wednesday A windy day with cloud and rain across northern and western parts of Spain and Portugal. Across eastern and southern Spain the day is going to be brighter and drier with sunny spells. Heavy rain and gale force winds across France, although more southern and eastern areas will have lighter rain. More cloud and rain moving into the Low Countries in the afternoon. It will be brighter across Germany, Austria and Hungary. High pressure across Italy will be bringing lots of sunshine and very warm conditions. There will be further sunny spells across Greece and Turkey with warm weather here. Heavy showers over Bulgaria and Romania, some of them heavy. To the north the Baltic States will be cloudy with periods of rain. Mainly dry across the Baltic States. Showers for northern Sweden, although the south of Sweden has rain. More cloud and rain over Denmark with some showery rain over Norway.

Thursday An area of showery rain affects central parts of Spain through today. There will be sunshine and showers through Portugal, with good spells of sunshine across eastern and southern Spain. Lots of sunshine through the Mediterranean. Italy and Greece as well as Turkey should be dry with lots of sunshine throughout. A front through central Europe brings heavy showers in France and the Low Countries with strong winds in northern France. Rain associated with the front extending north to south through Germany, but mainly dry in Poland. An unsettled day in Denmark with cloud and rain here. There will be mainly dry weather in the Baltic Sates but drizzle for Finland. Cloud and rain in much of Sweden, with further rain and cloud affecting much of Norway.
