UK Forecast: Stormy Sunday - Strong Gales, Heavy Rain, Apr 28 - 16:00

Sunday A miserable day to come across England and Wales today as heavy rain in the south spreading into all parts this morning. This heavy rain persists into the afternoon across northern England but will be replaced by showers in the south in the afternoon. This heavy, driving rain will be accompanied by severe gale forces winds up to 60 mph. Parts of England may see 30-40mm with a risk of local flooding. Most of Scotland and Northern Ireland will have a dry day with sunny spells though rain reaches southern Scotland in the afternoon. Temperatures will be suppressed with highs today of 6 to 12 Celsius.

Sunday night Strong northeast winds will continue across northern England into Scotland for this evening and tonight. Heavy rain is expected across Scotland and Northern Ireland and perhaps a pulse of heavy rain comes into south west England tonight. The rest of England and Wales will be mainly dry but cloudy. Expect minimum temperatures tonight of 5 to 8 Celsius.

Monday For much of Monday some rain is expected to persist across Northern Ireland and northern Scotland, this turning light and patchy by afternoon. For England and Wales expect a mixture of sunnier spells and occasional showers. The showers will be heavy with a risk of thunder. Heavy showers continue across southern England and Wales this evening with rain in the night. Rather cloudy to the north with a few spots of rain. Expect maximum temperatures today of 10 to 16 Celsius.

Tuesday A warmer, breezy day to come. Expect some morning rain across Northern Ireland into northern England and Wales with showers across The Midlands. Most of Scotland will be dry with a risk of showers for most of Britain in the afternoon. Much of the country will be dry albeit cloudy tonight. High temperatures today of 12 to 18 Celsius.
