David Huff's 7 shutout innings lead Columbus Clippers to win: Minor League Report

The Carolina Mudcats, Mahoning Valley Scrappers and Lake County Captains also get victories on Thursday.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers 2, Bats 0 RHP David Huff (7-6, 4.94 ERA) threw seven shutout innings to lead Columbus over visiting Louisville (Ky.) in an International League game Thursday night.

Frank Herrmann (4.78) got four outs for his eighth save.

AA Akron Aeros

Curve 6, Aeros 4 Akron's magic number to clinch the Eastern League's West title remained at one as the Aeros lost in Altoona (Pa.) in an Eastern League game.

Akron could have clinched the title with a win over Altoona or a loss by second-place Bowie. The Red Sox did not cooperate, however, beating Erie, 8-6.

Akron starter T.J. House (8-5, 3.98) took the loss. CF Tyler Holt (.249) banged out three hits to lead the Aeros.

Advanced A Carolina Mudcats

Mudcats 3, Nationals 1 Jordan Cooper (9-7, 3.54) gave up one unearned run over seven innings and SS Tony Wolters (.263) hit his eighth home run to lead Carolina over Potomac in a Carolina League game in Zebulon, N.C.

A Lake County Captains

Captains 11, Hot Rods 4 DH Jake Lowery (.217) drove in four runs, LF Bryson Myles (.287) had four hits and St. Edward graduate C Alex Lavisky (.249) added three hits and two RBI as Lake County thumped visiting Bowling Green (Ky.) in a Midwest League game.

A Mahoning Valley Scrappers

Scrappers 8, Muckdogs 6 Mahoning Valley scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth for a comeback win over Auburn (N.Y.) in a New York-Penn League game in Niles.
