AAA Columbus Clippers
Clippers 13, Bats 2 Columbus had 17 hits Friday and clobbered visiting Louisville (Ky.) in an International League game. Clippers first baseman Russ Canzler was 4-for-5, and smacked his 22nd homer.
AA Akron Aeros
Aeros 8, Flying Squirrels 1 Akron clinched the Western Division of the Eastern League with a victory at Richmond, Va. Starter Toru Murata (3-1) pitched shutout ball for six innings for Akron. Aeros shortstop Ryan Rohlinger hit two doubles and knocked in three runs.
Advanced A Carolina Mudcats
Nationals 3, Mudcats 0 Potomac scored all its runs in the third inning, and held on for a Carolina League victory over Carolina in Zebulon, N.C.
A Lake County Captains
Captains 9, Hot Rods 3 Lake County clinched a spot in the Midwest League playoffs with a victory in Eastlake over Bowling Green (Ky). Daniel Jimenez gave up three runs in 5 innings and reliever Cody Penny (2-1) pitched shutout ball for 21/3 innings.
A Mahoning Valley Scrappers
Doubledays 8, Scrappers 6 Auburn (N.Y.) scored four in the top of the eighth, and held on for a New York-Penn League victory over Mahoning Valley in Niles, Ohio.
Independent Lake Erie Crushers
Crushers rained out Lake Erie's game at Southern Illinois was rained out. It will be made up tonight as part of a twi-night doubleheader in Carbondale, Ill., starting at 6:05.
