Campus notebook: Vote for your representatives

? Elections for the new Northern Region Jewish Students' committee are due to close this weekend. Students can vote at http://northernregion.webs.com. The site contains details of all the candidates running for positions, which include president, treasurer, secretary, PR officer and Scotland representative.
? Manchester JSoc has launched a new website, designed by its own members, to keep students up to date with events in the city. The site introduces students to their JSoc committee and includes events, news and picture galleries. From next month it will include a Fresher's Guide, with advice on where to go in Manchester for kosher food, and other essential details for new students moving to the north west in September: http://www.manchesterjsoc.com/

? The actions of London chaplain Rabbi Gavin Broder spared 43 Jewish students at City University from having to take exams on Pesach. The chaplain stepped in to deal with the university's examinations office and heads of individual departments to find a resolution to the problem. It had been intended that the exams would be taken during the August retake period, but Rabbi Broder ensured the students were able to take their exams before and after Pesach.

? A new initiative aims to teach young adults and European Jewish students about Israel. Making Friends for Israel, organised by the European Centre of Jewish Students (ECJS) and two other groups, is a four-day conference aimed at 18 to 35-year-olds. The conference takes place in Israel from July 31 and costs around 150. For more information visit
