Zach McAllister a perfect 5-0 as Columbus tops Charlotte: Minor-league report

McAllister (3.09) pitched eight innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and one walk. He struck out five.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Clippers 8, Knights 2: Columbus 2B Jason Kipnis (.274) went 2-for-4 with three RBI and right-handed starter Zach McAllister improved to 5-0 as the Clippers won the International League game Tuesday in Charlotte, N.C.

McAllister (3.09) pitched eight innings, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and one walk. He struck out five.

Righty Carlton Smith (0.00) struck out the side in the ninth. Smith has pitched in nine games out of the Clippers' bullpen this season. He has thrown 12 innings, allowed no runs, nine hits, walked two and struck out 17.

Columbus 3B Lonnie Chisenhall (.277) singled, walked twice and scored two runs.

A Lake County Captains

Captains 2, Lugnuts 1: Three Lake County pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter as the Captains won the Midwest League game in Lansing, Mich.

Michael Goodnight (2-2, 2.27) started for Lake County and pitched six innings. The right-hander allowed one earned run on one hit and two walks while striking out 10.

Righty Dale Dickerson (3.00) pitched two innings and righty Clayton Ehlert (0.87) pitched the ninth for his seventh save.

Captains LF Tyler Cannon (.368) went 2-for-4 with a double and RBI.

AA Akron Aeros

Aeros at Curve, ppd.: Akron's Eastern League game in Altoona, Pa., was postponed because of rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on May 21. The first of two seven-inning games begins at 5 p.m.

Advanced A Kinston Indians

Indians at Red Sox, susp.: Kinston's Carolina League game in Salem, Va., was suspended in the bottom of the first inning because of heavy rain.

The game, which was scoreless when it was suspended, will resume Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday's regularly scheduled game will be played June 13 in Kinston, N.C.
