Neath teacher accused of possessing child sex abuse images

A PRIMARY school teacher has appeared in court accused of making and being in possession of indecent photographs of a child.

Simon Goodwin Williams, aged 43, appeared before Neath magistrates accused of 15 charges in total.

All are alleged to have happened between November 10 last year and January 6 this year.

It is understood he was a teacher at Gendros Primary School in Swansea, however, it is believed he is no longer working there.

One charge faced by Williams, of Main Road, Bryncoch, Neath, alleges he had in his possession 117 indecent photographs of a child.

The other 14 charges allege that Williams made an indecent photograph of a child.

No pleas were entered during the hearing.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction and Williams will next appear at Neath Magistrates' Court on June 30.

In the meantime Williams was released on conditional bail.

As part of the bail conditions he must not have any unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16.

A spokesman for the school concerned said: "Mr Williams has appeared in Neath Magistrates' Court charged with a number of offences of possessing or making indecent images.

"It is our understanding from the police the alleged offences relate to Mr Williams' private life and not his work or role with pupils at the school.

"It would not be appropriate to comment further while the case is ongoing," he said.
