*JUNE 2011* High pressure remains as a large feature to the east of the UK through the opening of the month, dominating at least the southern three quarters of the British Isles, maintaining predominantly very warm to locally hot conditions over England and Wales for a while longer, across the northwest there is likely to be more cloud at times with some patch light rain from time to time. As we move through to the middle of the month the dry weather should be maintained across England and Wales although the temperatures will ease back as cooler and fresher conditions seep down from the northwest or north, with scattered showers developing across northern Britain, theses becoming more widespread as pressure generally falls across the UK, but the overall pattern remains 'weak'. The period from mid-month through to month end sees a generally westerly flow covering the whole country, fresh at times across the north with showers packing into the northwest for a time, drier to the south of the UK with some pleasant sunny breaks under more anticyclonic influences. There are signs at the very end of the month that pressure will once again begin to rise across southern Britain so the prospect of lengthening sunnier beaks here and feeling quite warm and humid later, fresher and cooler across the north and northwest with heavy showers. *JULY 2011* Through the beginning of the month it looks as though high pressure will take control and all areas can expect to be feeling rather warm and humid, this humidity and heat is a recipe for the development of heavy and thundery showers, all areas at risk of seeing these at some stage. High pressure should be in control for a while although there are signs that the pattern will destabilise into the second week of July, cooler, fresher and showery conditions moving down through all areas during the second week. The middle of the month does have all the signs of looking to be rather unsettled with low pressure edging eastward into the UK and then becoming stalled and only slowly filling. This low pressure looks set to be absorbed into developing Atlantic low pressure which will bring quite an unsettled middle of July to most of the country with a generally westerly flow affecting all areas, with showers or longer spells of rain at times. A north to south divide is likely to develop across the UK during the latter stages of the month as pressure begins to rise generally through England and Wales, so some drier and summer-like weather here, rather more mixed across the northern half of the British Isles.
