A LLANELLI man has been handed a restraining order after admitting an assault on his ex-partner.
Dermot Smith, 46, of Marsh Street, pleaded guilty before town magistrates to a charge of assault by beating on Helen Diane Boone.
Prosecuting, Sian Vaughan said: "On February 18, he and his partner were arguing. He offered her some peace and quiet and went out the back — while out, she locked him out."
The court heard that once Smith was back in the house an argument ensued and he pushed Boone, causing some bruising.
Richard Morgan, mitigating, said of Smith: "He doesn't have any long history of violence. He just wants to concentrate on moving on with his life."
Magistrates handed Smith a 12-month community order with supervision and he must carry out 150 hours of unpaid work. He was told to pay 100 compensation to the victim and 85 costs. A two-year restraining order was put in place.
