TWO masked men, one of whom was armed with a hammer, threatened a worker at a Neath village post office before escaping with a quantity of cash.
A manhunt has now been launched by the police to find the two suspects involved in the robbery at Cilfrew post office.
The threatened member of staff was unharmed but was left shocked by the incident that took place at the post office on Main Road, at around 9.10am yesterday.
Both the suspects fled the scene on foot with the stolen cash.
Aberdulais councillor Doreen Jones, who lives on New Road in Cilfrew, said she was a shocked that the community had been targeted.
"Apparently two lads were seen running away and police have been knocking doors and the helicopter has also been out," she said.
"It is definitely not the type of thing you associate in Cilfrew. It is such a close-knit community so it is a bit of a shock.
"Everyone knows most people in the village.
"I have been inundated with people asking me what has happened."
Police are now appealing for help from members of the public and have released descriptions of the suspects.
One of the men has been described as being 6ft and of medium build.
He was wearing a dark coloured scarf over the lower half of his face up to his eyes.
Hood
The man was also wearing a grey hooded jacket which was zipped up and the hood was over his head.
He had a local Welsh accent, was wearing gloves, and was carrying a brown Tesco "bag for life" made of hessian material with ladybirds on it.
The second man was 5ft 7ins to 5ft 8ins and of medium build.
He was wearing a black balaclava over his head which had holes in the eye areas. The man was also wearing a grey coloured hooded top with the hood up over his head.
He was carrying a hammer and was wearing black gloves.
