Morning Call: Cloud and wet west - Snow in Scotland, Jan 11 - 06:04

Mainly cloudy and wet with heavy snow for parts of Scotland Good morning. All change in the weather for today across the country. After a fair weekend for many of us, things look set to be turning far more unsettled.

It is not a bad start to the morning across many central and eastern areas. Here there is some sunshine and it is dry too. In fact, many parts of East Anglia, the far southeast of England and parts of northeast England may well be dry through the day, albeit with increasing amounts of cloud. It is to the west where the action is taking pace. Here, cloud and rain are spilling eastwards as fronts push in. There is a risk of the rain becoming heavy at times over the slopes and coasts in the west, although this risk is increased significantly this afternoon as the rain turns more persistent. It will become windy for all too with gales at times. Snow may be a problem for central and northern Scotland, this being heavy in places. Drier weather should move into Ireland, Wales and southwest England this evening and this drier weather pushing eastwards through much of England and Wales tonight, although snow continues in Scotland.

Have a great day. Simon me at simon.keeling@weatheronline.co.uk
