Sister of missing Manics star pleads for better services for families of missing people

THE sister of vanished Manic Street Preachers lyricist Richey Edwards said she planned to lobby Welsh MPs to get better services for the families of missing people.

Rachel Elias, whose brother Richey has not been seen in almost 16 years, has been made one of 10 family representatives for the charity Missing People.

She hopes to change the culture around those who have disappeared and plans to go into schools to talk to young people about what can happen when someone disappears.

Mrs Elias, 41, said she and her parents faced a number of setbacks in the aftermath of her brother's disappearance.

"When someone goes missing you get very little support," added Mrs Elias.

"I hope to show the government just how much support there is to get families the help they desperately need."

Swansea University History graduate Richey has not been seen since February 1995. Despite Richey being declared legally dead in 2008, the acclaimed poet's family are still desperate for answers.

"I would like a resolution," added Mrs Elias.
