A SKETTY woman has been slammed with a Crasbo — banning her from begging in Swansea city centre.
District Judge Vivian Manning-Davies granted the application made against defendant Rachel Anne Rees at Swansea Magistrates' Court.
He ordered that the Criminal Antisocial Behaviour Order (Crasbo) be enforced for two years and that the 30-year-old of Clyne Court must not beg in a public place in the city centre. In addition she must not be present with anyone else who is begging there.
Restrictions
Some other restrictions were sought including preventing Rees from entering a number of city streets but the judge rejected these.
The court heard that one of the difficulties with such a restriction was that Rees's doctor's surgery was in High Street — one of the road's suggested as a no-go zone.
The difference between an Asbo and a Crasbo is that the latter is made on the back of a criminal conv- iction. The court heard that in Rees's case the application for the order came following a conviction in December last year, where she received a 12-month conditional discharge.
The court heard that Rees's offending behaviour included convictions for theft.
Judge Manning-Davies heard the order would last until January 23, 2013.
Addressing Rees, who was handed a map outlining the area of the city centre her Crasbo would be in relation to, he said: "I'm ordering that you're prohibited from begging in any public place which is located in Swansea city centre. Secondly you are prohibited from being present with anyone who's begging in any public place which is located in Swansea city centre."
Rees was warned that the maximum penalty for breach of a Crasbo was up to five years in prison.
