There was some decent surf around the country this week, especially in the earlier part of it. However there were outbreaks of Ecoli in the Cork area, which thankfully have cleared up, but just in time for the surf to clear up too. It should be slightly better in Donegal, which could be a sign for the football match on Sunday.
Weather outlook
A dull start to Saturday with scattered outbreaks of rain in many areas, but brighter weather, with scattered showers will extend from the west during the morning and early afternoon. A few of the showers could be heavy, with a slight risk of thunder, especially in the south. Rather cool and fresh, with moderate north to northwest winds. Maximum temperatures 16 to19 degrees Celsius. Apart from a little showery rain near the south coast at first, Saturday night will be dry, cool and mostly clear; with little or no wind, some fog patches may form inland. Sunday will be a mainly dry day, with variable cloud and some sunshine; however, the southwest and west may have some light rain, especially late in the day. Rain will gather in much of Munster and Connacht overnight into Monday, and southeasterly winds will strengthen at the same time.
North
Saturday: Two to three foot with 10-second period in the morning and moderate onshore breeze.
Sunday: One to two foot with eight-second period and cross-shore breeze, turning offshore hopefully in the afternoon.
North West
Saturday: One to two foot with seven-second period and light cross-shore breezes, not great really.
Sunday: Similar conditions to Saturday with lighter winds.
West
Saturday: Two to three foot of westerly swell with seven-second period and moderate onshores all day!
Sunday: One to two foot with eight-second period and light offshore breeze.
South and South West
Saturday: Westerly swell hitting Kerry at the weekend, with two to three foot and nine-second period, but moderate onshores will mess things up. Smaller conditions in Cork, with onshore winds making things awkward again.
Sunday: Sunday will see similar conditions in Kerry but winds should swing cross-shore in Cork in the morning so get on it if you can.
South East
Saturday: Two foot with an eight-second swell Saturday, with offshore winds hopefully making things fun!
Sunday: Very little happening Sunday!
