AAA Columbus Clippers
Clippers 4-1, Indians 1-2: Right-hander Corey Kluber (9-7, 3.80) allowed one run in six innings, C Matt Pagnozzi (.209) hit his third home run, and Columbus won the first game of an International League doubleheader Thursday in Indianapolis.
Kluber gave up three hits and three walks while striking out six.
In the nightcap, Columbus righty Tyler Sturdevant (0-1, 27.00) gave up two walks and a game-winning hit in one-third of an inning. It was Sturdevant's 2012 Class AAA debut. He was a combined 1-0 with a 2.16 ERA for Class A Carolina and Class AA Akron.
AA Akron Aeros
Curve 3, Aeros 2 (12 inn.) Akron lefty T.J. House (4.07) struck out eight and allowed two runs over 7-2/3 innings, but the Aeros managed just three hits in the Eastern League loss to visiting Altoona (Pa.)
Advanced A Carolina Mudcats
Keys 4, Mudcats 3: Carolina RF Bo Greenwell (.344) had three hits, including a triple, but host Frederick (Md.) scored twice in the eighth to win the Carolina League game.
Carolina lefty J.D. Reichenbach (3-4, 5.24) gave up a two-run homer in the eighth to earn a blown save and a loss.
A Lake County Captains
Timber Rattlers 5, Captains 3: Wisconsin scored three runs off Captains right-handed reliever Enosil Tejeda (0-1, 13.50) and rallied to win the Midwest League game in Eastlake.
Tejeda was making his first appearance with Lake County since being called up from Class A Mahoning Valley, where he made 10 appearances and was 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA in 101/3 innings.
Captains DH Jordan Smith (.304) hit his fifth homer of the season, a three-run shot in the first inning.
A Mahoning Valley Scrappers
Spinners 10, Scrappers 1: Indians 2012 first-round pick Tyler Naquin (.290) went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI as Mahoning Valley got crushed in a New York-Penn League game in Lowell, Mass.
