Week ahead: Staying mixed - Cloud & showers, Aug 02 - 08:05

Low pressure is going to be bringing mixed conditions through the next week. The showers could be heavy at times through this weekend. Into next week pressure will be trying to build to the north of Scotland and it is here where the best sunshine will be. Further south there is a risk of cloud and rain. For the weather for the next few days click here Sunday 5/8/12 The area of low pressure remains over southern England on Sunday. This is going to be bringing heavy and thundery showers, some of them thundery at times especially through Wales, central and northern parts of England. Drier conditions for southern coasts of England. Some thicker cloud over western Scotland and western Ireland where there could be a few spots of rain. Scattered showers for eastern Ireland and Scotland. Highs at a cool 13C in northern Scotland, 21C in southern England. Monday 6/8/12 Low pressure is going to be in the North Sea through Monday. This brings showers or longer spells of rain through eastern parts of the country. There will be showers in the west too, although these tending to be more scattered. Drier for southern England. Highs at 21C in southern England, 14C in northern Scotland.

Tuesday 7/8/12 A col is over the country through Tuesday. There will be sunny spells and there will be a scattering of showers. Many areas should be staying dry. A warm front moving into Ireland and southwest England bringing rain here later. Highs at 13C in northern Scotland, 21C in southern England. Wednesday 8/8/12 Low pressure stays to the southwest of Ireland on Wednesday. Much cloud and rain affects Ireland, Wales and most of England. The rain tending to be more persistent over Wales and England, this then clearing into the North Sea. The rain turns more showery from the west through the day. Dry for most through Scotland. Highs at 22C in southern England, 14C in northern Scotland. Thursday 9/8/12 A ridge of high pressure builds through Scotland bringing dry conditions and plenty of sunshine here. Low pressure drifts into northern France bringing cloud and periods of rain across southern Ireland, southern Wales and southern England. Highs at 17 to 23C. Friday 10/8/12 Showers affecting northern and western parts through Friday. More southern and eastern areas will be brighter with sunny spells and it will be mainly dry. Highs at 15 to 23C.
