AAA Columbus Clippers
Clippers 10, Bats 1 SS Juan Diaz (.261) hit a first-inning grand slam, and LHP David Huff (6-6, 5.05 ERA) allowed one run and two hits in eight innings as Columbus cruised to an International League victory Monday in Louisville, Ky. RF Vinny Rottino (.299) went 3-for-3 with two doubles, two walks and two RBI for the Clippers, and DH Russ Canzler (.260) also drove in two runs. Huff gave up one walk, struck out five and was taken out after 98 pitches. Columbus RHP Tyler Sturdevant (3.86) allowed one hit in the ninth.
AA Akron Aeros
SeaWolves 5, Aeros 2 LHP T.J. House (7-4, 3.72) gave up four runs, three hits and three walks in one inning as Akron lost an Eastern League contest in Erie, Pa. 1B Chun-Hsiu Chen (.317) and LF Nick Weglarz (.248) each drew a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning for the Aeros. RF Jordan Henry (.260) and SS Ryan Rohlinger (.216) each had two hits.
Advanced A Carolina Mudcats
Mudcats at Nationals, ppd. Carolina’s Carolina League game against Potomac in Woodbridge, Va., was postponed by rain.
A Lake County Captains
Lugnuts 10, Captains 0 LHP Shawn Morimando (6-5, 3.73) allowed seven runs — four earned — in 3 2/3 innings for host Lake County, and three Lansing (Mich.) pitchers combined to two-hit the Captains in a Midwest League contest.
A Mahoning Valley Scrappers
Jammers 8, Scrappers 4 3B Erik Gonzalez (.197) and LF Andrew Campbell (.182) each hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning, but host Mahoning Valley lost a New York-Penn League contest to Jamestown (N.Y.).
