Chai Cancer Care chairman Louise Hager launched the organisation's 2012 campaign at the charity's annual dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel.
Event hosts Gerald and Dame Gail Ronson welcomed the 440 guests. Dame Gail spoke to the capacity crowd saying she was impressed "with the passion and professionalism of the team at Chai".
Mrs Hager spoke about the need to raise 2 million to cover running costs of its services and the new capital build. The refurbishment of one of the wings at Chai's Hendon flagship centre will house the new Medical Outpatient Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Service in collaboration with the Royal Free Hampstead and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Mrs Hager told the audience: "The wing will offer nurse-led clinics and group art and music therapies. It will also include the expansion of the children and teenage service for children affected by a cancer diagnosis in their family."
Chai's supporters raised over 800,000 for the charity's work.
