Michael Klinger hailed his Adelaide Strikers after they began their defence of the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash League with an opening day victory.
Klinger led the South Australians to their first trophy in 15 years after last season?s stunning victory over New South Wales and is now targeting a repeat success.
The in-form batsman bludgeoned an impressive 46 as the Strikers overcame the Melbourne Renegades by 69-runs after posting a total of 189-5.
And the former Melbourne Maccabi man revealed he couldn?t have wished for a better start to the campaign.
?Everything went pretty much according to plan,? he said.
?I couldn't be happier with the way the guys played. We had heaps of contributors throughout the game with the bat and ball, as I said, great way to sell the tournament.
?When your plans work like they did tonight you're going to win most games. Great planning by the coaching staff and well executed by the boys.
"It certainly helps, what did we have nine or 10 guys from the championship team last year playing?" he said.
?And what we do know with our batting order is we all know our individual roles well and we go out and play them. Guys sacrificing their wickets at times to play their role.?
The Strikers take on Sydney Thunder on Friday in their second match of the competition.
