European Summary: Wet Mediterranean - Colder to north, Feb 17 - 06:03

Cloud and rain in the central Mediterranean, but colder and drier to the north Thursday More showers across northern parts of Spain today. There could be further showers and some strong winds through eastern Pain and the Balearic Islands. The rest of Spain and Portugal should be dry with sunny spells. Cloudier skies for France, perhaps with some spots of light rain. A cold day for the Low Countries and dry too with some sunny spells. Cold again across Germany with some more bright or sunny spells. Cloud and some sleet or drizzle across Poland where it stays cloudy and cold. More cloud and outbreaks of rain through Hungary and Austria, although Switzerland will be dry with some bright or sunny spells. Cloud and some rain over northern and central parts of Italy. The south of the country should be dry with sunny spells. Heavy showers across Greece. Turkey should be very warm and dry with sunny spells. Cloudier skies and some snow over Bulgaria and Romania. High pressure for Finland bringing a cold and dry day here. Staying very cold through the Baltic States and remaining dry with some bright or sunny spells. Remaining cold and dry for the Baltic States as well as Norway.

Friday Cloud and drizzle for the coasts of Portugal and northwest Spain today. Most of mainland Iberia will be fair with plenty of sunshine throughout. There will be fine conditions for France, although morning mist and fog may take some time to clear. The Low Countries and Germany are going to be cold with sunny spells. A few wintry showers for northern Poland, but dry to the south and cold. It will be cold through Hungary and Austria as well as Switzerland, although it should be dry with sunny spells. Low pressure over southern Italy brings cloud, wind and rain to the south of the country. More rain through central areas, although the far north should stay dry with sunny spells. Rain across western Greece, but fair to the east. Broken cloud across Turkey, but cloud and snow affecting much of Bulgaria and Romania. High pressure across Scandinavia persists and brings dry and cold weather in Finland. Breezy through the Baltic States and remaining very cold here but dry. Some snow showers for southern Sweden. These snow showers drifting into Denmark with most of Norway being dry with some sunshine.
