MORE than 1,500 pupils from Carmarthenshire have tried their hand at a range of trades from plumbing to hairdressing at a careers fair held at Parc y Scarlets.
Careers Wales West partnered up with Carmarthenshire Council to host the event which saw secondary schools from across Llanelli take part. Local employers, colleges and training providers were on hand to guide the pupils with their career choices, including the British Army, Coleg Sir Gr, Media M4C, Llanelli Rural Council and Hywel Dda NHS.
Pupils were given invaluable insight into a mixture of job roles and had the opportunity to research a variety of careers.
Marc Jones, from Coleg Sir Gr's catering course, said: "This event was an excellent way to demonstrate the many careers available to young people once they leave school. We have been able to do some cooking demonstrations to show what it's like to be a chef and also explain to pupils the route into catering."
