MAL bounce back

MAL bounced back in convincing style with a seven-wicket win over West Harrow at Camdenians on Sunday.

West Harrow won the toss and elected to bat on a green-looking surface. They were quickly in trouble as Yoav Lebens brought one back to flick the glove of opener Kunal, with Grant Traub taking the catch following a deflection off keeper Russ Corin.

Yoav Lebens was excellent throughout his spell, controlling the swinging ball very well. With Hamayun looking to be aggressive, Michael Klinger came into the attack and was effective immediately, a short ball being struck to cover where Dan Sher held a juggling effort.

Klinger was on target in his next over as well, bowling Vandhan for a duck. His third wicket again came in the next over, a quite outstanding one handed caught and bowled to remove West Harrow's Saturday 1st XI skipper Sanjeet.

Grant Traub replaced Klinger and was also quickly into the wickets, bowling Geet for 12 and Having Amit caught at cover, again by Dan Sher.

Skipper Shil threatened to add some late order impetus with a few lusty blows but he was given no support.

Kysc was bowled by Traub for 0, and with West Harrow only having nine men, Shil perished trying to add to the total, skying a Gav Lebens delivery which was well held by Yoav Lebens running round.

West Harrow were all out for 82. With the pitch offering a bit to all the bowlers, 150 would probably have been a par score, so this was well short.

MAL came out after tea determined to not slip up, and Mark Landau and Dan Sher took the score to 20, before Sher misjudged a straight one off Geet and was lbw for two.

Russ Corin joined Landau and with both looking to be aggressive they put on 47 in just over six overs before Corin was run out attempting a second for 23.

Landau followed shortly after for 25 with the score on 69, but there no further alarms as Yoav Lebens finished the game with a big six over long on.
