Luxembourg envoy welcomes Langdon cyclists

British Ambassador to Luxembourg Alice Walpole welcomed the four Langdon residents completing a four-day 275-mile sponsored bike ride from London. The quartet — James Manton, Guy Ben-David, Benjamin Kraus and Daniel Welck — enjoyed a celebratory picnic at the embassy.

The residents set the pace for a team of 37, expected to raise £60,000-plus for the charity, helping those with moderate learning difficulties to lead independent lives. The money will go towards providing employment opportunities in London and Manchester.

Ms Walpole complimented the residents on their “tremendous achievement. I was so overwhelmed upon hearing they were coming that it seemed so fitting, in British style, to put the kettle on for a congratulatory cup of tea.

“I can only imagine their individual daily challenges to live as normal a life as possible. It proves, yet again, that with appropriate support, people with learning disabilities can live a full and rewarding life.”
