AAA Columbus Clippers
Red Sox 5, Clippers 1: Mauro Gomez's two-run double keyed the offense for Pawtucket in the International League game Friday in Rhode Island. 2B Cord Phelps (.277) drilled his third homer in the ninth for the Clippers' run. Chris Seddon (3-2) took the loss, pitching six innings and giving up eight hits, five earned runs and striking out six.
AA Akron Aeros
Senators 8, Aeros 1: C Sandy Leon had three hits, including his 11th homer to lead a 13-hit attack by Harrisburg (Pa.) in the Eastern League game at Canal Park. Steven Wright (3-2) took the loss for Akron, going 3.1 innings and giving up five runs, three earned. Akron scored its run on 2B Ryan Rohlinger's sacrifice fly in the ninth.
Advanced A Carolina Mudcats
Mudcats 9, Nationals 2: Carolina erupted for seven runs in the first to lock up the Carolina League game in Zebulon, N.C. 2B Tony Wolters and 1B Jesus Aguilar (.312) had RBI doubles and DH Jake Lowery (.259) slammed a three-run homer to fuel the outburst. Dale Dickerson (3-2, 3.12 ERA) got the win in relief, going two innings and surrendering one hit while striking out four.
A Lake County Captains
Dragons 5, Captains 4: Juan Silva scored on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to give Dayton the Midwest League win at Classic Park in Eastlake. Francisco Valera (1-3, 4.22) took the loss for the Captains. Lake County scored a run in the sixth on C Alex Lavisky's double and 1B Jerrud Sabourin's single. They added three runs in the seventh with RF Jordan Smith (.279) and 2B Todd Hankins (.200) getting RBI singles.
