Week ahead: Mixed again - Sunshine, showers & rain, Jun 27 - 08:40

The weather will be remaining in a mixed mood through the coming week. There will be some rain at times, most to the north and the west. More southern and eastern counties are likely to be drier than recently.

For the weather for the next few days click here Saturday 30/6/12 The area of low pressure remains over western Scotland today. This brings further showers, although there will be sunny spells too, the best of them in central and eastern areas. More persistent rain affecting Ireland and the west of Ireland where there will be plenty of cloud around too. The best of any sunshine across east Anglia and southeast England. Breezy in parts of northern England and Ireland. Highs at a cool 12C in western Scotland, 21C in the sunshine in the southeast.

Sunday 1/7/12 A trough extending through the UK and Ireland on Sunday brings a breezy day with showers. Those showers could be heavy at times, these heaviest of Northern Ireland, northern England and Scotland. Less showers to the south with the far south possibly staying south throughout the day. Highs at 13 to 19C

Monday 2/7/12 A ridge of high pressure is expected to be building over the country on Monday. This is going to be bringing sunny spells and dry conditions to most of the country. An area of low pressure west of Ireland will push fronts east bringing some cloud and outbreaks of rain into Ireland later. Highs at 12 to 18C.

Tuesday 3/7/12 The ridge of high pressure may persist over eastern parts of England and Scotland on Tuesday. This should bring a fine day here with some bright spells. Lower pressure is northwest of Ireland and this pushes fronts eastwards bringing rain into Ireland, Wales, western Scotland and western England. High at 14 to 22C.

Wednesday 4/7/12 Low pressure may be centred through Scotland on Wednesday, although it is worth noting that confidence in this is low. Overall it seems that conditions will be cloudy and with showery outbreaks of rain, especially in the north and west, although there is a risk of some more persistent rain here too. Probably brighter to the south and east. Highs at 16 to 21C.

Thursday 5/7/12 Low confidence again in the forecast for Thursday. It does seem likely that the day will be rather unsettled with a trough through the country. This is likely to be bringing some heavy showers, most over the north and west. Highs around 12 to 19C.
