Throughout the five weeks since Jo Yeates went missing her distraught family have publicly spoken of their grief.
When the news of her disappearance first broke on December 21 her father, David, 63, and mum Teresa, sobbed during a press conference alongside Joanna's brother Chris and boyfriend Greg.
David said: "Jo is a vibrant young woman and this is completely out of character for her. We need your help to find her. Jo, whatever the reason that you have not been in touch over the last few days we want you to know that we love you dearly. Please get in touch as soon as possible. Either to the police or anyone who can confirm you are ok."
Two days later, fearing the worst her parents spoke out again.
Mr Yeates said: "I think she was abducted after getting home to her flat. We have no idea of the circumstances because of what was left behind. She would not have gone out after leaving these things behind and was taken away somewhere. Don't know by whom. She's a sensible girl and a professional lady.
"She wanted to be in that night and all weekend. Greg and Jo were a lovely couple – he is now going through hell."
The couple broke down as they described their worst fear – that Joanna was lying in the freezing snow, a fear which turned into a tragic reality just a day later on Christmas Day.
Teresa said: ''With all the snow around I sometimes picture her, if she had some reason had collapsed or been discarded and if she was alive in all the snow and the cold ... I just can't bare the thought of it, I don't cope with it."
David added: ''For me it's not the end, it's what's happened to her in between.
''I was stood outside having a cigarette, it was cold I was thinking my daughter maybe she was out there by herself in the snow, frozen. It breaks me up. I want to be there to hold her."
Then after her body was discovered Mr Yeates said: "Since hearing about her death, all sorts of things have been running through our minds and we are trying to rationalise what has happened."
