Young Carmarthen woman stole lingerie to 'cheer herself up'

A YOUNG Carmarthen woman suffering from depression stole eight items of lingerie to "cheer herself up".

Scarlet Stephens, 20, of Court y Berllan, Orchard Street, swiped the �49.92 haul from TK Maxx on January 7.

Police later found on her 9.2 grammes of cannabis, which the court heard she had been using to get over her depression.

Stephens pleaded guilty to charges of theft and possession of a Class B drug at Carmarthen Magistrates' Court last Wednesday.

Stephens was given a 12- month conditional discharge for the theft, and �65 fine for the drug possession. She was made to pay �40 costs and a �15 victim surcharge. The drugs will be destroyed.
