House struggles in Aeros' loss, Salem hammers Carolina starter Rayl, Dayton dominates Lake County.
AAA Columbus Clippers
Braves 4-8, Clippers 0-3: Columbus righty Chris Seddon pitched ... OK on Friday. Columbus lefty David Huff did not. Both lost.
Seddon (7-4, 3.78) allowed four runs on nine hits in six innings of the opener of an International League doubleheader, and Huff (3-3, 4.99) gave up eight runs on 12 hits in three innings of the nightcap as Gwinnett earned the sweep in Lawrenceville, Ga.
The Clippers managed just four hits in getting blanked in the first game, but had eight hits in the second game. 1B Russ Canzler (.263) hit his second home run in as many days for Columbus, and has five on the season.
AA Akron Aeros
Phillies 7, Aeros 2: Akron C Michel Hernandez (.302) and SS Juan Diaz (.232) each hit a home run but their teammates were of no help in an Eastern League loss in Reading, Pa. It was Hernanez's first home run, Diaz's fifth.
Aeros left-handed starter T.J. House (4-2, 3.55) got knocked around for 4.1 innings. He gave up seven runs on 13 hits. House walked one, struck out one and allowed two gopher balls.
Advanced A Carolina Mudcats
Red Sox 10, Mudcats 4: Strongsville grad Anthony Gallas (.251) hit his sixth homer of the season for Carolina, but host Salem (Va.) cruised to the Carolina League win.
1B Jesus Aguilar (.287) also hit his sixth home run of the season for the Mudcats.
Mike Rayl (4-7, 4.60) started for Carolina but didn't come close to finishing. The left-hander lasted two innings, giving up six runs on four hits and four walks.
A Lake County Captains
Dragons 9, Captains 3: Dayton clubbed 16 hits, including three home runs, and crushed Lake County in a Midwest League game in Eastlake.
Righty Joseph Colon (5-7, 3.29) started for the Captains and allowed seven runs (six earned) on 12 hits in 5 innings.
Captains RF Jordan Smith (.302) had two hits and an RBI.
