Week ahead: Cooler & more unsettled - A warm weekend, Jul 26 - 07:51

Temperatures will be falling through the coming days as conditions turn more unsettled. The weekend is not looking too bad for most, although a gradual deterioration takes place into next week with temperatures staying cool and the risk of rain and showers increasing. becoming breezier too. For the weather for the next few days click here Sunday 29/7/12 The area of low pressure will be to the north of Scotland on Sunday. There is an increased risk of showers, these heavy at times across central and northern areas. An occluded front may bring more persistent rain to western parts of Scotland and the far north of Northern Ireland. The risk of heavy showers increases in the afternoon through central, southern and eastern England. Highs at 14 to 21C Monday 30/7/12 The area of low pressure slips into Scotland through Monday. This brings another day of sunny spells and showers. Most of the showers will be across Scotland and northern England where some of them could be heavy at times. More scattered showers to the south and west, the best sunshine here. Highs at 14 to 19C.

Tuesday 31/7/12 A new area of low pressure forms to the west of Ireland through Tuesday. This is going to be pushing fronts eastwards bringing some heavy periods of rain through southern Ireland, these reaching southern Wales and southern England through the day. A scattering of showers over northern England and Scotland, but for most the day will be dry with plenty of sunny spells. Highs at 14 to 20C. Wednesday 1/8/12 The area of low pressure looks set to cross southern parts of the country on Wednesday, bringing the threat of some heavy rain over southern England and Wales. This clears east to be replaced by sunshine and showers, heavy in the west. Sunny spells and showers over northern England, Scotland and Ireland. Tops at 15 to 19C. Thursday 2/8/12 Low pressure remains dominant through Thursday being centred over Ireland. This is going to be bringing sunny spells and showers to most of the country. The showers could be heavy at times, and it will be breezy too. Highs at 12 to 19C. Friday 3/8/12 Another cool and unsettled day through Friday. There will be sunny spells and showers, some of them heavy and merging to longer spells of rain. Highs at 12 to 18C.
