Clippers 6, Braves 1 Columbus DH Russ Canzler (.267) hit his third homer in three days and drove in five runs Saturday as the Clippers beat Gwinnett in an International League game in Lawrenceville, Ga.
Canzler has six home runs this season.
Righty Chris Schwinden (4-5, 2.70) started and pitched seven innings. He allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out three.
AA Akron Aeros
Phillies 2-4, Aeros 1-6 Akron RF Thomas Neal (.283) and LF Nick Weglarz (.242) homered and the Aeros salvaged a split of an Eastern League doubleheader in Reading, Pa.
Akron's game 1 starter, lefty Giovanni Soto (5-3, 3.99), took the loss after allowing two solo home runs.
Advanced A Carolina Mudcats
Red Sox 8, Mudcats 6 Carolina 3B Giovanny Urshela (.246) had three hits, including his second home run of the season, but the Mudcats lost the Carolina League game in Salem, Va.
Reliever Shawn Armstrong (0-3, 1.59) blew the save and took the loss. The right-hander gave up two runs on four hits in two innings.
A Lake County Captains
Captains 11, Dragons 2 Lake County 1B Jerrud Sabourin (.288) drove in four runs and DH Luigi Rodriguez (.280) and LF Todd Hankins (.240) homered to lead the Captains to a Midwest League rout of visiting Dayton.
It was Rodriguez's fourth home run, Hankins' first.
Righty Mason Radeke (4-1, 3.00) got the win in relief of starter Cody Anderson (3.12). Radeke pitched five innings, allowing one run on four hits. He walked none and fanned four.
Independent Lake Erie Crushers
Beach Bums 7, Crushers 4 Lake Erie (11-16) lost at Traverse City, Mich., as the Beach Bums took a game shortened to seven innings because of rain.
