Jeanmar Gomez allows four runs in six innings of Columbus' 6-1 loss to Toledo

Error sinks Aeros vs. Erie; Greenwell, Wolters homer in Carolina win; Captains can't overcome poor start, DeJesus impresses in Scrappers' win.

AAA Columbus Clippers

Mud Hens 6, Clippers 1: RF Russ Canzler (.277) hit his 11th homer of the season for Columbus' only run in an International League loss Thursday in Toledo, Ohio.

Right-hander Jeanmar Gomez (1-1, 2.77) started and pitched six innings for the Clippers. He allowed four runs on six hits and three walks.

AA Akron Aeros

Seawolves 8, Aeros 6: Chun Chen and Adam Abraham both homered, but an eighth-inning error helped Erie put together the winning two-run rally to beat visiting Akron. Brian Price (2-3) took the loss in relief, while starter T.J. House gave up eight hits and five runs in 5.1 innings of work.

Advanced A Carolina Mudcats

Mudcats 4, Red Sox 3: Bo Greenwell and Tony Wolters homered and four pitchers combined on a seven-hitter as Carolina defeated visiting Salem. Shawn Armstrong (1-3) got the victory with two shutout innings of relief, while Jose Flores picked up his 12th save.

A Lake County Captains

Whitecaps 5, Captains 1: West Michigan blasted righty Felix Sterling (6.08) for four runs on seven hits in two innings and won the Midwest League game in Comstock Park, Mich.

Sterling relieved right-handed starter Cody Anderson (4-5, 3.11), who allowed one run in three innings.

A Mahoning Valley Scrappers

Scrappers 11, IronBirds 4: Luis DeJesus continued his sizzling start to the season with five strong innings to improve to 2-0 with a 0.89 ERA as Mahoning Valley coasted past visiting Aberdeen.

Jairo Kelly, Joe Sever, Aaron Seliga and Robel Garcia each had two hits for Mahoning Valley, which scored five runs in the second inning and six more in the fourth. Juan Romero chipped in with a three-run triple.
